WEST SOMERSET RAILWAY
The West Somerset Railway is Britains longest heritage railway running the distance of 20.5 miles between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard. The full length is 22.75 if you include the link from Bishops Lydeard to the mainline at Norton Fitzwarren.
The railway runs steam services throughout the year using its own fleet of steam locomotives which are boosted by visiting engines during the season. There is also a fleet of diesel locomotives including diesel hydraulics.
Special steam and diesel Galas are held throughout the year with a wide range of visiting engines during the events.
